The ADE7868 is a high accuracy, 3-phase electrical energymeasurement IC with serial interfaces and three flexible pulseoutputs. The ADE7868 incorporates second-order Σ-Δ ADCs, adigital integrator, reference circuitry, and all the signalprocessing required to perform total (fundamental andharmonic) active, reactive and apparent energy measurement,and rms calculations. A fixed function digital signal processor(DSP) executes this signal processing.The ADE7868 is suitable to measure active, reactive, andapparent energy in various 3-phase configurations, such asWYE or DELTA services, with both three and four wires. TheADE7868 provides system calibration features for each phase,that is, rms offset correction, phase calibration, and gaincalibration. The CF1, CF2 and CF3 logic outputs provide a widechoice of power information: total active/reactive/apparentpower or sum of current rms values.
The ADE7868 has waveform sample registers that allow accessto all ADC outputs. The device also incorporates power qualitymeasurements such as short duration low or high voltagedetections, short duration high current variations, line voltageperiod measurement and angles between phase voltages andcurrents. Two serial interfaces can be used to communicate withthe ADE7868: SPI or I2C while a dedicated high speed interface,HSDC (High Speed Data Capture) port, can be used inconjunction with I2C to provide access to the ADC outputs andreal time power information. The ADE7868 has also twointerrupt request pins, IRQ0 and IRQ1, to indicate that anenabled interrupt event has occurred.Three specially designed low power modes ensure thecontinuity of the energy accumulation when the ADE7868 is intampering situation.The ADE7868 is available in 40-lead LFCSP lead free package.
