The ADL5365 uses a highly linear, doubly balanced passivemixer core along with integrated RF and LO balancing circuitryto allow for single-ended operation. The ADL5365 incorporatesan RF balun, allowing for optimal performance over a 1200 MHzto 2500 MHz RF input frequency range using low-side LOinjection for RF frequencies from 1700 MHz to 2500 MHz andhigh-side injection for frequencies from 1200 MHz to 1700 MHz.The balanced passive mixer arrangement provides good LO toRF leakage, typically better than −30 dBm, and excellent intermodulationperformance. The balanced mixer core also providesextremely high input linearity, allowing the device to be used indemanding cellular applications where in-band blocking signalsmay otherwise result in the degradation of dynamic performance.
The ADL5365 provides two switched LO paths that can be usedin test driven development (TDD) applications where it is desirableto rapidly switch between two local oscillators. LO current can beexternally set using a resistor to minimize dc currentcommensurate with the desired level of performance. For lowvoltage applications, the ADL5365 is capable of operation atvoltages down to 3.3 V with substantially reduced current. Underlow voltage operation, an additional logic pin is provided to powerdown (<200 µA) the circuit when desired.
The ADL5365 is fabricated using a BiCMOS high performanceIC process. The device is available in a 5 mm × 5 mm, 20-leadLFCSP, and operates over a −40°C to +85°C temperature range.An evaluation board is also available.
